Emerge Supports will be entering liquidation on 30 September 2026. This is an incredibly sad outcome for us. We have worked very hard to remain sustainable, but with Support Coordination pricing seeing no meaningful increase since 2019 while staffing, compliance and operating costs have continued to rise, the model has ultimately become impossible for us to maintain.
We had hoped for a planned transition period over a few months, but unfortunately we have received direction to hand over the business and assets in 2 weeks.
We are doing our best to deliver a thorough and orderly transition process with a focus on participant safety, continuity and choice.
For the many vulnerable people we work with:
- Services and support will continue to the day we close.
- There are things we are still checking so please be patient as we gather more information.
- We have identified a number of providers who we can refer participants to. Some of these may also employ our staff. We will provide details as soon as we know.
- Many of our staff will establish themselves as independent workers and we will be assisting them to do so.
We have been proud to work collaboratively with our community on behalf of so many people with disabilities. I believe we have made genuine differences in their lives as part of a strong network of care. We also deeply appreciate the willingness of our community to work in partnership with us, even (especially!) when we disagreed.
We live here. We work here. Our lives overlap with participants and service providers in countless ways, and we deeply care about the wellbeing of our community at all levels. As you can imagine, we feel very vulnerable at the moment.
